↵Not surprisingly, Maier did not walk away from this unscathed. X-rays revealed three broken bones below his right eye. The pitcher, Zack Jackson, clams he was “trying to throw a cutter down and away,” but, at the last moment before he released the ball, he realized Wednesday is opposite day, duh. ↵
