Leinart Really Wants to Lose This Job -- UPDATE

↵Oh, Matt Leinart. As a Raiders fan (shut up), I remember that the team had a chance to draft him in 2006. It’s a good thing Oakland went with ... uh ... erm ... Michael Huff (that’s right) instead of Matty, as Leinart has thrown something like 146 interceptions in his three appearances in front of the Black Hole thus far in his exhibition and regular season career.

↵Saturday’s contest was no different: Leinart hit his own teammates four times, for 24 yards. He hit Oakland’s defenders three times. Sigh.↵↵⇥“I know Matt’s down because he didn’t play as well as he would have liked,” [Arizona coach Ken] Whisenhunt said. “This competition, being pushed by Kurt [Warner, ageless wonder], has made Matt tougher. It’s one of the things you have to be as a quarterback.”↵↵Also one of the things you have to do as a quarterback: throw it to your receivers more often than you throw it to the other team. Leinart proved incapable of that Saturday, and has been terrible at it through his NFL career. If Saturday didn’t change Whisenhunt’s mind, at this pace the switch will come within the next month.

↵Warner didn’t really get a shot to flex his arm, passing only four times. But you know what you’re getting with Kurt. With Leinart? Well I suppose you also know what you’re getting. But it’s not something Arizona fans should want.
