RIP, Kevin Duckworth

Sad news this morning. Former Blazers center Kevin Duckworth, a key part of those great Portland teams of the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, has passed away at age 44. The cause of death hasn’t yet been revealed; Duckworth was on the Oregon coast hosting a free basketball clinic. As a tribute to his legacy, here’s the video that opened 1992 Blazers telecasts, which features them proving that, indeed, basketball is jazz. For fans of a more modern sound, here’s the Ultramagnetic MC’s immortal ten-minute 1989 All-Star joint, which includes a mini-ode to Duckworth. For more info on that one, click here. ↵
