The Curious Case of Shaun Livingston

Shaun Livington was a basketball dream -- before his traumatic injury, at least. Now, he’s not just damaged goods; Livingston, while working his way back to respectability, still makes people vaguely queasy, like walking past a corner where you once got mugged. Thus, he’s had some trouble securing a roster spot for 2008-09. Sure, there’s the calculated risk of his recovery, but honestly, dude just kind of seems haunted after that fateful spill, like his soul slipped out of him and now he’s part of the walking dead.↵↵Or at least that’s what some scouts have told me.↵

↵↵The Warriors had some passing interesting in Livingston -- of course Nellie would -- before Ellis went down. After all, Livingston is a real point guard, albeit one who may limp forever, and the team needed reinforcements, if not security, at that position. But still, it was on Shaun to prove that he could contribute in the least. Such a signing would be understoof as a risk, maybe even a gesture of goodwill. A tribute to what he might’ve been, had fate not intervened. Now, with Ellis out and Golden State a little desperate, the tables have begun to turn. Just barely.↵

↵↵Yes, all of a sudden, Livingston might have a little leverage. According to Lakers Blog, LA’s finest are considering signing the fallen former Clipper. This isn’t exactly a bidding war. But is shifting subtlely from GSW taking pity (albeit in a way that serves their interests), to the team not having the luxury of being picky, to having another team interested in said bottom-scraping reinforcements. You might even say Livingston is a hot commodity these days, insofar as a player unlikely to get much more than the minimum could be in that position.↵

↵↵Only in Golden State, I suppose. ↵
