J.T. O’Sullivan Comes Back to Earth

↵J.T. O’Sullivan put two passes into Saints hands in N.O.‘s end zone, single-handedly squelching his own offense with poorly timed mistakes. The absence of Jonas Jennings can take some credit: the Niners’ line has been decent getting Frank Gore some space, but JTO has been under pressure all day long (six sacks, a fumble lost, two dozen “hurries” according to FOX). But the interceptions were awful, and O’Sullivan sailed too many passes and couldn’t see the pressure with a magnifying glass. A little too late, JTO did deliver a six-point laser to Isaac Bruce after escaping the rush.

↵Drew Brees has, on the other hand, been potent for N.O. He’s offered up a handful of flawless bombs for Lance Moore and Robert Meachem, and hit Devery Henderson on a brilliant bullet which went 81 yards but was stopped just short of the end zone. Unfortunately, the Saints couldn’t pound it in: on a 4th and 2, N.O. tight end Olaniyi Sobomehin lost the bread two whiskers from the goal line, robbing Brees of his fourth TD. Nonetheless, N.O. leads 28-17.

↵Reggie Bush has started the season emphatically, but hasn’t been all aces in this one. Deuce McAllister actually has a plurality of touches, including a hurdling TD which busted the roof off the Superdome. They love that guy in New Orleans.
↵
↵Meanwhile, the world was on Brady Quinn Watch all afternoon, but Romeo Crennel stuck with Derek Anderson. Cleveland got its first win, 20-12 over Ryan Fitzpatrick and the flyin’ Bengals, but that’s sort of beside the point, isn’t it?↵
