Brendan Shanahan Retires After 21-Year Career
NHL.com reports that Brendan Shanahan officially announced his retirement Tuesday.
Shanahan amassed 656 goals and 1,345 points over the course of his career, good for 11th and 23rd all-time respectively. He is also the only NHL player to score more than 600 goals and be whistled for more than 2,000 minutes in penalties. Over the course of his illustrious career, he won three Stanley Cups, a gold medal, and played in eight All-Star games.

But as the story came into focus, it has become apparent that Shanahan is not definitely retiring, just that he will not play for the Devils this year.
