Andy Behrens at Yahoo! Sports does a nice job with his stats article, Target Practice. Receivers in this league can’t get fantasy points without catching some footballs, and they aren’t going to catch footballs if the QB isn’t throwing it to them. Behrens breaks down the receivers who were targeted the most and what their production turned out to be. If your looking for some low-level WR’s that just may be prime targets, because their QB is targeting them, then this is the article for you. By a quirk of fate, receivers named Moss figure prominently from Week 3.
The Stats Say Play a Moss
Randy Moss led all players in Week 3 targets (16) and he tied Santana Moss for the lead in receptions (10). If he would have just found the end zone, then Randy, Santana and Sinorice could have all scored touchdowns on the same day for the first time in the NFL’s three-Moss era. Alas.
After three weeks, only 12 players have as many targets as Randy has catches. He’s been the league’s busiest receiver by a significant margin.
Don’t worry, Behrens gets down to WR’s who you might actually be able to pick-up on the waiver wire, and helps you make the decisions about receivers who are questionable plays in your lineup.
