Ovechkin Scores Two In Season Opening Win

It's only opening night in the NHL but the Capitals put the rest of the league on notice already. Alex Ovechkin had two goals and an assist, and Jose Theodore stopped 19 to lead Washington past Boston 4-1.

The Caps took a 2-0 lead in the second after Ovechkin’s wrister. Washington then iced the game with a pair of goals in the first two minutes of the third period, the second of which was Ovechkin again.

Boston's Patrice Bergeron scored the only goal for the Bruins and kept Theodore from his 29th career shutout.

Caps’ blog Japers Rink has the full recap while Bruins’ blog Stanley Cup of Chowder looks at it from the Boston perspective.
