Stafford Remains Uncertain for Week 6

The Detroit Free Press reports Matthew Stafford’s availability for Week 6’s matchup against the Packers remains uncertain:Schwartz said the Lions would see how much Stafford practices and how his knee progresses throughout the week. He said Stafford doesn’t necessarily need to be 100%, but must be mobile enough to escape trouble and protect himself. If he can’t play, Daunte Culpepper would make his second straight start.

“If he’s trending up and he’s improving and we can get him snaps, then we have a good chance of getting him on the field,” Schwartz said. “If not, then we won’t.

For the record, Culpepper faired well against the Steelers in a game Detroit could have very well won. However, Coach Schwartz says the decision to play (or not to play) Stafford has nothing to do with their bye in Week 7. Right.
