Despite last year being the best season of his so-far-disappointing career, WR Matt Jones was cut from the Jaguars in March. This came after he was arrested for violating his plea agreement, an agreement which resulted from his previous arrest in '08 for cocaine possession.
WR Matt Jones May Be Close to Finding Work Again
From the Tampa Tribune:
Tampa Bay (0-5) is seeking help at receiver after three dropped passes by Michael Clayton on Sunday at Philadelphia. Tight end Kellen Winslow leads the Bucs in receptions with 26 for 257 yards and four touchdowns; running back Cadillac Williams is second with 15 reception for 89 yards and a touchdown.
Never a good sign when your leading receivers are your tight end followed closely by the running back. And this despite the fact that the Bucs have attempted the second most passes in the NFC -- something our Tampa blogger at Buc Em isn’t thrilled about.
Although Jones may not be the instant solution, he did have 65 catches last season. Plus, he’s 6’6” and runs a 4.37 40, two facts which will keep him lingering around the league for years.
