Vancouver’s Olympic Medals Are So 3008

Somewhat lost in the whole “Chicago-lost-the-2016-Olympics” thing is the fact that a Winter Games is less than four months away (study up on your curling rules now, people). In advance of the 2012 Olympics, today the Vancouver Organising Committee released images of the medals.

↵The medals were “inspired by the ocean waves, drifting snow and mountainous landscape” and were designed based on “direct input from...athletes who shared...what they would like to see in future medals.” Very Web 2.0 of Vancouver. Also, at 500 to 576 grams, these are the heaviest Olympic medals, ever. Hope the athletes are doing their neck exercises.
