Dave Hutchinson of the Newark Star-Ledger reports that two anonymous sources close to Cotchery confirmed he will not play Sunday:
Jets WR Cotchery Ruled Out For Sunday
Cotchery, who suffered the injury last week in practice and aggravated it in Monday night’s 31-27 loss to the Dolphins, has missed the past two days of practice. And with rain in the forecast for Sunday, it makes little sense for him to risk further injury by playing.
In addition to Cotchery, Brad Smith does not seem to be progressing this week, and the Jets receiving corps will have to make some changes:
It also doesn’t appear promising for wide receiver Brad Smith, who injured his quad against the Dolphins. He too hasn’t practiced this week. He refused to comment as he left the locker room with a slight limp.
If both Cotchery and Smith can’t go, speedster David Clowney will start opposite newly-acquired Braylon Edwards. Tight end Dustin Keller will likely be split out wide as a third receiver in many formations.
