NFL Week 6 Picks

With Week 6 of the NFL season upon us, SB Nation’s NFL bloggers opened their crystal balls to tell us what to expect from this week’s slate of games. Their verdict: the Saints will come marching in, and the Broncos might want to wait on making Josh McDaniels’ Hall of Fame bust just yet.

And more bad news for fans of the Lions, Browns, Raiders, Titans and Bills: SB Nation's NFL bloggers unanimously agree that your teams have absolutely no hope this week (which of course means that at least one of them will win). All home teams are listed second.

NFL Week 6 Picks

Game Pick Comments
Bengals The Texans have no defense. The Bengals have"it". Advantage: "Cardiac Cats".
Packers With Chad Clifton coming back from injury and Mark Tauscher re-signing during the bye, the Packers should keep Aaron Rodgers upright long enough to dissect the Lions' defenseless secondary.
Jaguars The Rams' woeful defense should be the perfect antidote for MJD's frustrations with the Jaguar's offense. Look for the "second highest paid decoy" in the league to get back on track, along with the rest of the Jags' offensive playmakers.
Vikings Brett Favre is comfortable on teams with great pass rushes and running games. Luckily for him, the Vikings have both (and aren't shy about letting people know it). While the Ravens are certainly more desperate, coming off consecutive close losses, our bloggers think going into Minnesota and getting a win will prove too tough a task for Baltimore.
Saints In what has the feel of a potential NFC Championship preview, our bloggers like the rested Saints to capitalize on their home-field advantage and take care of Eli's Giants. And if Ahmad Bradshaw outperforms Brandon Jacobs yet again, how loud will the calls in the New York media get for Bradshaw to take over as the lead back?
Steelers Advanced NFL Stats gives the Browns a 9% chance of winning. Our bloggers think that's 9% too high.
Panthers Is this the least interesting game of the week? Not if you're a Niners fan, and your team has the Panthers' first-round pick next year. Nonetheless, our bloggers think the Panthers will disappoint Niners fans and keep the Bucs winless for at least another week.
Redskins Resistable force, meet movable object. For the sixth straight week, the Skins meet a team seeking its first win. If the Skins don't avoid losing to another previously winless team - something our bloggers think the Skins will narrowly avoid doing- look for John Riggins to call out Jim Zorn while sitting atop a tractor.
Eagles Is Kevin Kolb a sneaky fantasy play here? He could very well suit up for most of the second half of this "scrimmage", as the Raiders play out the movie "Weekend At Bernie's 3: Owning the Raiders".
Seahawks 41-0 drubbings have a way of convincing people that you're for real. The Seahawks' demolition of the Jaguars last week was no exception. Look for the Seahawks to make the NFC West a two-way race with the Niners after this week.
Patriots It's unanimous: Tom Brady should work out some of the kinks evident during last week's loss to the Broncos and feast on the Titans' vulnerable secondary. VY should keep warm in the bullpen.
Jets Is TO still a Bill? Does it matter? Look for the Jets to take out their frustration over last week's loss on the hapless Bills.
Falcons Apparently the Falcons' 45-10 beatdown of the Niners last week was all the convincing our bloggers needed. They like Matty Ice and Co. to keep rolling against the Bears.
Chargers Upset alert! Apparently our bloggers aren't quite so sold on the resurgent Broncos - at least not on the road against a desperate Chargers team looking to save its season and stay in the AFC West race.
