I know, I’m surprised too. McCarver, along with Joe Buck, is covering Game 2 of the ALCS. He’s going on and on about pitch speeds, and has used the phrase, “miles per hour,” several times. It comes out of his mouth as, “miles pr’hour.”
Tim McCarver Just Helped Me Understand Something
↵The real name of Tails from the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series has the full name, “Miles Prower.” When I was a kid, I thought it was strange that they would have bothered to give him such a pedestrian name, but I haven’t given it as much as a passing thought in well over a decade.
↵Then, Tim McCarver says, “miles pr’hour.” Miles Prower. It’s a pun. It’s a pun meant to illustrate that Tails was fast. The moral of this story is that Tim McCarver never says anything of importance.
