Joe Sakic Night Ends in 5-2 Win for the Avalanche over Sharks

Avalanche goalie Craig Anderson had to perform some acrobatics in the third period, particularly during a five on three power play where Rob Blake tested him several times. He had a particularly outstanding, and flashy, glove save that brought the Pepsi Center crowd to their feet. Remember, Anderson had the third best save percentage in the NHL last year with the Florida Panthers. Perhaps he was just waiting for his turn?

On the Sharks side, despite the changes in the offseason with bringing Dany Heatley, the San Jose team looked a bit lost out there tonight, especially in their own zone. And Heatley looked disinterested at times. Maybe the Sharks will just stumble through the regular season this year and then turn it on once the playoffs come around instead of what they’ve done the last few seasons in excelling in the regular season then burning out quickly come playoff time? Yeah, I’ll go with that.
