Along with cutting Joey Galloway, the Patriots also released DE/OLB Tully Banta-Cain, LB Eric Alexander and TE Michael Matthews. Which has SB Nation’s Pats Pulpit wondering where the team is going with this, and why they’d need to free up four roster spots.
Pats Cut Three More Players, Which Raises The Question: Why?
There seem to be two explanations. First, receiver Brandon Tate and offensive lineman Mark LeVoir will be able to come off the PUP list and join the active roster. Second, there is the possibility that New England is lining up a trade, as has been speculated by the likes of Peter King.
Update to the update: Adam Schefter tweets that the Pats have re-signed Tully Banta-Cain. So that leaves one roster spot unaccounted for, assuming they do add Tate and LeVoir to the roster.
