If you haven’t taken a gander at the World Series schedule, you may be interested to know that Game 1 isn’t until next Wednesday, the 28th. Which means if the Yankees win tonight, we will have five whole days between playoff games. And regardless, the Phillies will have had an entire week between games.

↵Yeah, ridiculous. I thought so too. And so did Drew Fairservice over at Walkoff Walk, who has an open letter to Bud Selig, imploring him to move to start of the World Series up:

[D]o right by the fans — and most importantly the game you love for the bountiful riches it provides you — and move the game up to within two days of the close of the final LCS. […]↵There are people in this world that view the baseball season as a marathon. A 162 game grind that separates the wheat from the chaff via attrition as much as performance. By adding so many off days between games, you tip the scales in favor of teams with front-heavy rotations (i.e. Yankees, Phillies), allowing them to continually get their top guys set up to start the series. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for best-on-best battles for all the marbles, but this goes against the entire nature of a baseball season.

Of course, this won’t happen because of stupid “logistics.” The schedule was set before the playoffs started, charging it now would set off TOTAL CHAOS. Like forcing people in Philly to choose between watching the Eagles or Phillies on Monday night.
↵Then again, if the Angels can just win tonight … and again on Saturday … and one more time on Sunday … then this all becomes moot.
