Dave Richard over at CBS Sports takes a look at a few specific games, and mines the stats from previous games to help predict what may happen in fantasy this weekend. For instance, how have dome teams done against Pittsburgh, in Pittsburgh? Not well, as it turns out.
Past Stats Predicting The Future
For starters, dome teams have not done well playing at Pittsburgh. The Colts won there last season, but they were the first dome team to win at Pittsburgh since the Rams in 2003 (Week 8). Houston upset Pittsburgh in 2002, and the Falcons tied them the same year, but those are the only four instances of a dome team not losing at Pittsburgh since 1996.
Check your starters for the matchup if you own Vikings players, who travel to Pittsburgh this weekend. Except AP, of course.
Also, check out this curious case involving the Eagles and the Redskins who lock horns in Week 7.
Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, typically a stat machine thanks to his offense, hasn’t thrown a touchdown in three of his last four against the Redskins, including both meetings last season that saw him total 75 pass attempts! Incredibly enough, the same can be said for Washington’s Jason Campbell. Last year he also failed to throw a touchdown in 62 pass attempts against the Eagles. Thank goodness for a November 2007 meeting where McNabb threw four touchdowns on the Redskins and Campbell hit up the Eagles for three scores of his own, or else there would be hardly be any statistical data to even analyze.
