Rumble Exclusive: Lyoto Machida Interview

↵
↵The last couple of weeks before what is arguably the biggest fight of his career, the champ can be a hard man to find.↵
↵
↵When I finally tracked down Lyoto Machida it was via email, with↵manager Ed Soares and assistant Derek Kronig Lee acting as translators.↵The undefeated UFC light heavyweight champion turned out to be a man of↵few words. I guess I can’t blame him - he’s got a lot on his mind right↵now.↵
↵
↵Here, Machida answers my questions about his first title defense↵against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua this weekend at UFC 104, the pressures of↵being champion and why some fighters find it so difficult to make the↵jump from competing in Japan to fighting in America.↵
↵
↵Chad Dundas: How are your preparations for UFC 104 coming? Are you doing anything special to prepare for Shogun?↵
↵
↵Lyoto Machida: I have created a strategy based on Shogun, other than that my training has remained the same. ↵
↵
↵CD: What do you expect from him in your fight? How are you game-planning to stop what he might bring?↵
↵
↵LM: I have a clear mind right now, I am not thinking of what he↵will do. I am only thinking about what I will do on Saturday night.
