Jets Leon Washington Breaks Leg

Bad news for the New York Jets and for fantasy owners of Leon Washington. In yesterday’s game against the Raiders, Washington broke his leg and is by all accounts done for the year. That’s too bad, because Washington was having a very good year and many NFL fantasy owners were riding him week after week. SB Nation’s Gang Green Nation ponders the loss:

This one hurts badly. I don't doubt the Jets will continue to have an excellent running game considering their offensive line and duo of Thomas Jones and Shonn Greene. Neither is a game changer like Washington, though. He's the kind of guy defenses have to game plan around. He's a great decoy who always draws attention even when he's not getting the ball, which opens things up for others. You can split him out to receiver if you want. Neither Greene nor Jones is as dynamic of a threat.

As you can see, Shonn Greene will now be the backup for Thomas Jones, and he went crazy on the Raiders after replacing Washington. His stat line from yesterday: 19 carries, 144 yards and 2 TDs. Granted, that was against the Raiders and the game was a blowout, but still, if you owned Washington, start looking at Shonn Greene as a replacement.
