Saturday NFL Draft watch notes

• No game today could carry as much anticipation as the contest between Washington and Notre Dame. With Jevan Snead struggling and Sam Bradford being hurt, Washington's Jake Locker and Notre Dame's Jimmy Clausen have become the top two junior quarterback prospects.

Both have their distinct strengths. For Locker, it's a great arm and really good athleticism. He struggled some against the Stanford blitz last week, but he's the total package. Clausen is similar to former Fighting Irish quarterback Brady Quinn. He's smart and disciplined but doesn't have the best arm.

• The Arkansas State/Iowa game doesn't offer much excitement on paper. However, scouts from the Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints will be on hand to observe junior left tackle Bryan Bulaga. Returning from a thyroid issue, Bulaga has been cleared to play. When he's healthy, he's one of the best players in college football.

• Snead will once again be in the spotlight as Mississippi takes on Vanderbilt. Snead has looked indecisive all season and has a way to go to reclaim top prospect status. Picking apart at Commodores pass defense that is one of the best in the nation could go a long way in helping his cause.

Vanderbilt senior cornerback Myron Lewis had two interceptions last week and is beginning to display the promise many had hoped to see all season. He has an NFL frame but not the best speed.

• The possible matchup today between Alabama sophomore wide receiver Julio Jones and Kentucky senior cornerback Trevard Lindley is intriguing. There are questions about how well Lindley holds up against physical wide receivers and few are more physical than Jones.

• The mental part of Eric Berry's game will be tested today against a fast-paced Auburn offense. Tonight he can show how well he adjusts to a no-huddle offense. it could be argued that berry is playing better than anyone in the nation, but the no-name Tigers offense could test him.
