The Florida Marlins, having been eliminated from playoff contention, still have something to play for. As FishStripes notes, players will receive bonuses if the team finishes second in the NL East.
Marlins Continue to Fight For Second Place, Money
↵This reminds me of a No Fear shirt I saw once. On the back, in large print: “THERE IS NO SECOND PLACE.” Below it, in smaller print: “second place was invented to make the loser feel better.” If second place was invented, second place has to exist, right? I call faulty logic on that T-shirt I saw when I was like 13 years old. Anyway, given the Marlins’ low payroll, $10,000 a person is pretty significant. I don’t think any of them even get a salary.
