Red Wings center Valtteri Filppula will miss 6-8 weeks with a broken right wrist sustained in Thursday night's game with Edmonton, reports the Detroit Free Press.
Red Wings’ Filppula Out 6-8 Weeks With Broken Wrist
Filppula has six points through 11 games, five of those points coming in the last seven.
This is a significant loss for the Red Wings as Johan Franzen is already out several months with a torn ACL. Since Franzen's injury, Filppula moved into Wings' top six forwards and was expected to pick up some of the offensive slack to make up for the loss of Franzen. With both players out of the lineup, the pressure is squarely on the shoulders of Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg to produce offensively to break the Red Wings out of their uncharacteristically slow start.
