Beyond the Box Score has noticed an interesting correlation between safety ratings of major American cities and said cities’ quality of play. From looking at the statistical map, we see that the safest areas -- those free from natural disasters, violent crime, etc. -- are more often than not home to winning teams. There are notable exceptions, of course, such as Seattle’s extremely safe environment despite lacking a great team.
Living Near Losing Teams Is Dangerous
↵One obvious reason for this would be the cities’ economic climates. Beyond the Box Score observes something that is difficult to refute:

↵if "violent crime, traffic deaths, deaths in the workplace, and distance from natural disasters" doesn't conjure up the 2004-2009 Kansas City Royals / Kansas City Chiefs for you, you probably live in Florida and hate sports.
