At first, the story of Miguel Cabrera’s arrest early Saturday morning seemed relatively harmless, as far as athlete arrests go. The MLB.com story said police were called to the home for “family trouble.” That was it.
Miguel Cabrera Was Drunk the Day of Tigers Crucial Game on Saturday
↵But now we have details. Glorious, incredible details, which include:
↵— Cabrera went out partying with players from the Tigers’ opposition (the White Sox) at the Townsend Hotel after the game Friday night.
↵— He came home at 6:05 a.m. Saturday morning, the same day he was to play in a critical game against his buddies from Chicago.
↵
— His wife apparently wasn’t pleased with this. She called the police, who took Cabrera into custody. He blew a .26 BAC. This is drunk. Very, very drunk.
↵— Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski picked Cabrera up from the station between 7:30-8 a.m. after police decided not to file any charges.
↵— Cabrera then went 0-4 that night, never hitting the ball out of the infield and stranding six runners in a game the Tigers lost 5-1.
