Despite suffering a frightening injury to his neck during yesterday’s loss to the Patriots, Ravens LT Jared Gaither appears to be in good shape, according to the Baltimore Sun. X-rays on Gaither’s neck and shoulder were negative (which is positive news), and he is scheduled to undergo an MRI today. The 6’9” 340-pound Gaither was too large for Mass General Hospital’s MRI machine.
Prognosis for Ravens LT Gaither Is Hopeful
Gaither was injured during a second quarter pass play, when his head struck QB Joe Flacco. Here’s the video of the play:
Rookie RT (and book and film subject) Michael Oher replaced Gaither at LT, with reserve Marshall Yanda manning the right bookend spot. At this point, there’s no word on when Gaither is expected back, although he is doubtful for this week’s game.
In other Ravens injury news, LB Brendon Ayanbadejo, who is second on the team in tackles, looks certain to miss a significant chunk of the season - if not the remainder of the year - after tearing his left quadriceps tendon.
