After the Yankees first few weeks in the new Yankee Stadium showed that when the economy nearly collapses, it’s very hard to find people who can afford, or are willing to admit they can afford, $1,250 tickets to regular-season baseball games. And so Yankee Stadium had huge swaths of empty seats. The Yankees lowered their prices, the empty seats went away, and the Yankees cruised to a division title. (Coincidence?!? Actually, yes.)

↵But the Yankees aren’t letting the lessons of 2009 go for naught. They’re lowering prices in a variety of ways for 2010, including the creation of something called the “Champions Suite.” Ooh, I want to sit there! It makes me a “champion” by proxy, right? It doesn’t? Shucks.
