Charlie Manuel has officially announced Cliff Lee as the NLDS Game 1 starter for the Phillies against the Rockies on Wednesday. Lee gets the start over last year’s World Series MVP, Cole Hamels, who will start Game 2 on normal rest.
Cliff Lee to Start Game 1 for Phillies
↵After initially being un-hittable after joining Philly mid-season, Lee struggled down the stretch, giving up four or more runs in five of his last seven starts. In his lone start against Colorado this season, he gave up one run over seven innings.
↵Of course, the other factor here is that Cliff Lee has been a better pitcher than Cole Hamels this season.
