Toronto, Washington Have Questions in Net After Opening Weekend

Jonas Gustavsson played a respectable opener allowing 2 goals on 28 shots. Unfortunately for him, Pascal Leclaire played better in net. Leclaire allowed one goal on 27 shots in the 2-1 win for the Senators tonight.

Shean Donovan and Daniel Alfredsson picked up the goals for the Senators while Matt Stajan had the lone goal for the Leafs.

Semyon Varlamov has had one of those nights against Philadelphia where nothing goes your way. He allowed 4 goals on 21 shots before being pulled with 5:58 left in the second period. The Flyers are leading 4-3 over Washington.

It’s only one week into the NHL season and already there are a slew of questions in nets across the NHL. Two of the more prominent controversies from the preseason, Toronto and Washington, have spilled over into the regular season.
