There's plenty of action on the court Friday as the schedule features the openers for six Top 25 teams. The most anticipated game is in Lexington, where John Calipari makes his official debut on the Kentucky bench. His no. 4 Wildcats, led by junior forward Patrick Patterson and a highly-touted recruiting class, open against Morehead State, the defending Ohio Valley champs (ESPNU, 6:30 p.m. ET).
Calipari’s First Game At Kentucky Highlights Friday The 13th Action
The Eagles, featuring star forward Kenneth Faried, shouldn't be a pushover, as they gave Louisville a battle in an NCAA First Round contest last season.
Be sure to visit SB Nation’s Kentucky site, A Sea of Blue, for full coverage of that game.
Four other games stand out on Friday night’s slate, but you’ll probably have to visit your local sports bar to see them.
- The consensus pick for the national title, no. 1 Kansas, hosts Hofstra, led by point guard Charles Jenkins (Jayhawk TV/Full Court, 8 p.m. ET). Visit our KU site, Rock Chalk Talk, for full coverage.
- CollegeInsider Tournament runner-up Bradley and Mountain West Tournament Champion BYU jump head first into the new campaign, as they face each other in the opening game of the inaugural Missouri Valley/Mountain West Challenge (the mtn., 9 p.m. ET). Vanquish the Foe, SBN's Cougars site, will have more on this contest.
- No. 10 Tennessee, which should be Kentucky's biggest rival in the SEC this season, also opens with an in-state OVC opponent, Austin Peay (SportSouth, 9 p.m. ET). Be sure to visit our Vols site, Rocky Top Talk, for coverage of this one.
- In the nightcap, no. 14 Washington hosts Horizon League contender Wright State (FSN Northwest/FCS Pacific, 10 p.m. ET). This is your first chance to see another of this year's star freshmen, Huskies guard Abdul Gaddy. Visit the UW Dawg Pound for analysis of this game.
In the other two Top 25 openers, no. 9 Duke, which is without star recruit Mason Plumlee, opens up against UNC Greensboro (FS South, 7 p.m. ET), while no. 12 Connecticut opens up at home against William and Mary (Big East Network/Full Court, 7:30 p.m. ET).
