Argentina Manager Diego Maradona Suspended For Two Months

A few weeks ago, Argentina barely qualified for the 2010 World Cup with a win over Uruguay. Before this win, rumors about manager Diego Maradona’s impending firing and issues among his coaching staff filled Argentinian newspapers; after the win, Maradona freaked out at various reporters, blaming them for inventing negative rumors about the team.

↵Maradona was not polite in his response, and he dropped his fair share of swear words in the process. Still, the two-month suspension handed down to Maradona by FIFA seems a little extreme. The good news is that Maradona won’t miss much of his team’s pre-World Cup campaign, and this isn’t the first time Maradona has been suspended by FIFA. At this advanced age, and given Maradona’s tumultuous, drug-filled playing career, the man is rather used to it by now.
