No. 21 Georgia Tech Rolls Over Boston U In Puerto Rico

Zachery Peacock had 22 points as 21st-ranked Georgia Tech used a big second half to take an 85-67 win over Boston University on the final day of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.Gani Lawal had 17 points and 13 rebounds, Mfon Udofia added 15 points, five rebounds and five assists while Derrick Favors had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Yellow Jackets (3-1), who have won their past two games.

John Holland had 23 points and five rebounds while Corey Lowe added 17 points and seven rebounds for the Terriers (1-4), who defeated Indiana on Friday.

Holding a one-point lead early in the second half, the Yellow Jackets ripped off an 8-0 run and held a 60-51 lead on an Udofia three-pointer with just over 13 minutes to play.

After Lowe hit a free throw for Boston University, Georgia Tech ran off another eight straight points with Favors’ tip-in giving the team a 68-52 lead with just over nine minutes to play.

The deficit proved too much for the Terriers as the team was unable to get back into the game and trailed by double-digits the rest of the way.

Neither side was able to establish a big lead in the first half.

Just past the midway mark of the first 20 minutes the Yellow Jackets took a 21-16 lead on a Peacock three-pointer with 9 1/2 minutes to play.

Later in the frame, though, the Terriers got a basket from Lowe followed by a Tyler Morris three-ball for a 27-26 lead with under seven minutes to play.

On the strength of a Peacock jumper near the close of the half, Georgia Tech took a 42-40 lead into the break.

Georgia Tech has won all three matchups against Boston University…The Yellow Jackets host Mercer on Friday…Boston University hosts Northeastern on Wednesday…Georgia Tech shot a blistering 54.1 percent from the floor while the Terriers made just 33.3 percent of their shots…Georgia Tech dominated on the glass, 45-29.
