Joe Stevenson v. George Sotiropoulos Planned for UFC 110

MMA Mania has the scoop on this lightweight clash:

Lightweights Joe Stevenson and George Sotiropoulos are currently in negotiations to collide at UFC 110 from the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia, on Feb. 21, 2010.

Bout agreements have been distributed to both fighters; however, nothing is official at this time. The good news is that MMAmania.com has learned that Sotiropoulos is eager to sign on the dotted line as soon as possible so he can compete in front of his hometown crowd for the first time ever as a UFC fighter.

Stevenson would be a huge step up in competition for Sotiropoulos but a guy of his skill level has to be moved up past the curtain jerker spot on cards at some point. Stevenson has experienced quite the turnaround under the capable tutelage of Greg Jackson who has Joe moving back to his roots as a wrestler. Now using his improved striking as a tool and not his entire game, Stevenson has been able to dominate Nate Diaz and Spencer Fisher.
