Leinart-Young II, The Reckoning: Titans Lead Cardinals 6-0 In Second
(Sports Network) - Vince Young led Tennessee on a 99-yard game- winning drive, which he capped with a 10-yard touchdown throw to Kenny Britt as time expired, to lift the Titans to a 20-17 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
As a result, the Titans (5-6) became the first team ever to win five in a row after beginning the season with six consecutive defeats.
Young has been at the center of Tennessee’s resurgence, as he got his first start of the season on November 1 and helped the Titans to their first win. Neither he nor the Titans have lost since.
Young completed 27-of-43 passes for a career-high 387 yards, and engineered the late drive after the Titans’ chances for victory took a big blow with just under five minutes to play, when Britt fumbled the ball away after making a 51-yard reception deep in Arizona territory.
But the Cardinals punted, and the Titans went 99 yards in 18 plays over the final 2:37. Young converted three fourth downs on the drive, including the game-winning touchdown throw to Britt.
The rookie Britt finished with seven catches for 128 yards, while Chris Johnson ran for 154 yards on 18 carries, including an 85-yard touchdown run for the Titans, who finished with 532 total yards.
Matt Leinart got the start for Arizona (7-4) after Kurt Warner was inactive because of a blow to the head suffered last week, and completed 21-of-31 throws for 220 yards.
Tim Hightower had a rushing score for the Cardinals, who had won three in a row, while LaRod Stephens-Howling recorded a 99-yard kickoff return for a score.
