The End For Jake Delhomme?

A combination of bad play and injury could spell the end for Jake Delhomme this season. Not that many people were using Delhomme on their rosters anyway, but this could affect the play of the rest of the Panthers offensive players. Coach John Fox reports that Delhomme broke a finger on his throwing hand and that his status is up in the air. Given the four interceptions he threw on Sunday, the change might have been coming anyway, but the injury will give Fox full cover to pull the trigger and find out what they have in Matt Moore.

Moore is an interesting prospect, but in fantasy it will matter how he plays in relation to Steve Smith’s numbers and also the running back combo of DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. If he and Smith have any chemistry, we may see a mini-resurgence of the diminutive receiver. And Moore needs to be effective enough to give the RBs scoring opportunities and keep the defenses from stacking the box.

Then again, Fox may not even make the change.
