According to Jeff Goodman at FoxSports.com, Villanova’s star freshman Mouphatou Yarou has contracted a non-life-threatening disease that will force him to miss the rest of this season for Villanova:
Star Villanova Freshman Mouphtaou Yarou Expected To Miss The Season
A source close to the situation told FOXSports.com that the 6-foot-10 freshman has been diagnosed with a condition that is not life-threatening, but one that will likely cause him to miss the entire season.
Yarou, a native of Benin, was considered a Top 25 player coming out of high school at Montrose Christian (Md.) this past season.
He first contracted the disease while Villanova was playing in a preseason tournament in San Juan, after which he was sent home to undergo a battery of medical tests. It’s unclear what, exactly, Yarou might be dealing with or whether it may be career threatening, but at the very least, we can take solace knowing it’s reportedly not life-threatening.
As for Villanova, they’ll be without a player that was expected to provide significant contributions as the season unfolded, providing scoring and versatility for a team expected to make yet another deep run in March.
