The computers have made themselves clear: A come-from-behind win over a good team like LSU is far more convincing than an easy win over Central Florida. Hence the latest BCS rankings, in which Alabama leapfrogged Texas to take the No. 2 spot after the Tide’s close call against the Tigers.
Florida is still No. 1, naturally; No. 3 Texas, new No. 4 TCU, No. 5 Cincinnati, and No. 6 Boise State round out the rest of of the notables, followed Georgia Tech, LSU, Southern California and Iowa. Iowa fell from No. 4 to No. 10 after a loss to Northwestern, its first of the season.
