College Kids Figure Out Best Way To Shoot Free Throw

This seems apropos, given the return of college hoops this evening, but it could come in handy for NBA players, too: A group of researchers at N.C. State analyzed thousands of simulated free throw shots on their way to discovering what they call the best scientific method for shooting a free throw. You have to release the ball at three hertz, so it spins softly on the rim; you have to aim five centimeters from the back of the rim; and you have to launch the shot at a 52-degree angle relative to the hoop.

↵Got all that? Good. Now go out there and score some free throw shots! (Note: Process may be easier said than done.)
