Maryland To Keep Head Coach Ralph Friedgen Despite 10-Loss Season

According to the Washington Post, Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen will return for the 2010 season despite leading the school to the first ten loss season in its history in 2009. Finances appeared to have been a serious consideration in the decision to keep the 62-year-old coach for a tenth season despite flagging attendance and the obvious decline in Maryland’s on-field product.

Maryland was cursed with a plague of injuries this year and had to use many young players, something Friedgen mentioned in his 3 1/2 hours of discussion with Maryland AD Debbie Yow over Sunday and Monday.
