Bob Stoops To ND: I’d Say It’s More Like One In A Million

I have a few friends who went to Notre Dame. I know, I know. But you know what they say: You can’t choose your family, but you can choose -- if you’re masochistic enough -- to spend time with people who root for Notre Dame.

↵Last night, one of these friends, Jason, was lamenting my fantasy football season with me when the subject changed to Bob Stoops. Stoops, Jason said, was almost certainly coming to Notre Dame. “Listen to his comments,” Jason said. “He said he ’intends’ to be at Oklahoma. That’s what you say when you’re leaving!”

↵Which got me momentarily nervous. Notre Dame with a good football coach? How would I survive my Saturdays? What I needed was a total evisceration of the possibility, and today, thanks to Sporting Blog’s Brian Cook (and Stoops himself), I got it. It’s pretty much impossible to read Cook’s post on the matter -- which recounts Stoops’ comments and the birth of the rumor one by one -- and think Stoops guy could possibly be bold enough to go back on his repeated vows to be at Oklahoma next year. Maybe there’s a chance, but it’s more like one in a million than one in ten.

↵Notre Dame fans, that’s your cue: So you’re telling me there’s a chance! All right!
