Week 14 Start/Sit: Flacco Should Rebound Against The Lowly Lions
Quarterbacks
Joe Flacco: Flacco has been a little meh this season and Ray Rice has been the focal point of the offense, but the Lions can turn quarterbacks around really fast. The Lions are the worst in the league in passing yards allowed as well in touchdowns allowed through the air. You do the math!
Alex Smith: This is a big game for Smith on a national stage. He looks like he is on the right track and Arizona, though adequate in pass defense has been giving up an adequate amount of yardage the last 6 weeks ranking them 28th in the league. I think Smith has turned the corner and he’ll probably need to try shooting it out with Warner.
Running Backs
Jamaal Charles: So Buffalo is insanely bad against the run and Jamaal Charles has run well since Larry Johnson was booted. Charles isn’t bulletproof; he has had some fumbling trouble and seems to get nicked up for periods of time during the game. So far this hasn’t killed his fantasy value and he shouldn’t have any trouble with the Bills.
Quinton Ganther: Is he the next Ray Rice? Uh, no. But he gets the start against a bad Raiders run defense. Do you want to start him over a quality running back with a tough matchup? Probably not, but he makes a good flex play when you are choosing between a bunch of part time running backs.
Wide Receivers
Derrick Mason: Sticking with the “start your players against Detroit” theme, Mason should benefit from an easy matchup after having a couple tough ones. Mason is Flacco’s favorite target and should easily roam the Lions secondary.
Kevin Walter: Seattle has hit rock bottom in pass defense and Matt Schaub should carve them up. The Seahawks have given up the most passing touchdowns in the last 6 weeks. Walter has had trouble getting into the endzone, but this should be his week.
Sit Down!
Quarterbacks
Jay Cutler: Too easy? Possibly, but he’s Jay Cutler and some may still feel like he can turn it around. The Packers should be able to capitalize on Cutler’s huge slump. Charles Woodson will be Cutler’s worse nightmare.
Matt Hasselbeck: Hass isn’t bad and he could have a nice fantasy playoff run, but traveling to Houston, who is playing well in pass defense, will be tough. In the last 6 weeks Houston is 8th in passing yards allowed. Be wary.
Running Backs
Cedric Benson: Minnesota has given up one rushing touchdown, the least amount of rushing yards and the least amount of running back fantasy points in the last 6 weeks. Benson will have a tough time running against the Williams Wall in the Favre Dome.
Ricky Williams: The Jaguars have only given up more than 77 yards to one running back all season and his name is Chris Johnson. Football Outsiders ranks them 3rd in run defense and I agree (they will be so pleased). Ricky isn’t a must sit, but lower expectations.
Wide Receivers
Antonio Bryant: He should help you in weeks 15 and 16, but week 14 is Darrelle Revis week. You don’t start players against Revis on Revis week.
Chris Chambers: The Bills pass defense is strong whereas their run defenses is not. The Chiefs will run it to stay away from Byrd and company.
