Mini-TWIS: Notre Dame Fans Can’t Decide Whether They Want Brian Kelly Or Anthrax

â†µâ†µNotre Dame just hired a guy who built Grand Valley State into a D-IIâ†µpower, used the Mike DeBord -- the former Michigan offensive coordinatorâ†µwho failed so miserably at Central Michigan that he resigned before anyone was goingâ†µto fire him -- leftovers to put CMU back at the top of theâ†µMAC, and then took a .500 Big East team to an undefeated two-time BCSâ†µparticipant powerhouse. Most people who follow Notre Dame areâ†µdisappointed. â†µ

â†µâ†µThis is because most people who follow Notre Dame hate them. But evenâ†µthe ones who like the Irish are seriously pissed off about theâ†µmost common-sense hire Notre Dame has made since Lou Holtz. Herein, aâ†µmini-This Week In Schadenfreude covering Notre Dame reaction to hiringâ†µthe premiere coach available this offseason. May all these goofs be soâ†µright it hurts in three years.â†µ

â†µâ‡¥If and when Kelly is named, the focus should be on how and why weâ†µâ‡¥failed with Stoops.â†µâ†µâ†µThis will be the recurring theme: these coaches who will not move toâ†µyour sad little Indiana city no matter how much money you offer themâ†µshould have been hired despite their repeated insistence that youâ†µcouldn’t get them to South Bend with a shotgun. Seriously:â†µ

â†µâ‡¥How fecking tough can it be? I think I should be the next AD. Iâ†µâ‡¥don’t know s--- about college sports, but I love ND, know how to talk toâ†µâ‡¥people and can close a sale.â†µâ†µâ†µOther posters declare that they’re disappointedâ†µthat the “charade” of a coaching search will be glossed over. You know,â†µthe “fact”â†µthat “Stoops, like Saban, like Gruden, like Meyer all wanted ND butâ†µduring the processes ND whiffed on all.” And the board moderator isâ†µ“dedicatingâ†µhimself to getting these problems rooted out.” â†µ

â†µIt's so bad that certain posters are beginningâ†µto suspect that maybe the guys in charge of the University aren'tâ†µlistening to every spittle flecked word on the board:â†µ

â†µâ‡¥by Cashâ†µâ‡¥“Coach Kelly” [shiver]â†µâ‡¥doesn’t read this board. We don’t take kindly to people treating thisâ†µâ‡¥board as some sort of conduit to communicate with the team, its coaches,â†µâ‡¥etcetera.â†µâ‡¥

â†µâ‡¥But beyond that, you are the poster child for theâ†µâ‡¥zippety-doo-dah-whistling alumnus who never dares look upon dear ol’â†µâ‡¥Notre Dame with a critical eye. And you’re nauseating.â†µâ†µâ†µSo there you go. May all these people be so far beyond right that NDâ†µNation takes up a collection to drill a hole into the Earth’s core andâ†µdeposit their new coach and everyone involved in hiring him there. â†µ
