Kobe Bryant finished Friday night’s 104-92 win over the Timberwolves with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 9 perfectly functional fingers. His right index finger suffered a slight fracture in the first quarter, but it didn’t stop Mr. Bryant from returning to the game, and he’s not expected to miss any time.
Kobe Bryant Stays In Game Despite Injury That Sounds Kind Of Horrifying
↵That’s kind of remarkable, given the cringe-inducing nature of the injury:
↵↵The Lakers said Bryant has an avulsion fracture, in which a tiny fragment of bone tears away near a tendon or ligament.
↵↵Aah! AAAHH! I don’t usually associate “broken bone” with “a piece of the bone falling off and presumably rattling around inside one’s finger.” It looks as though Bryant won’t miss any time -- given that the injury was to his index finger, it’s a good thing that he’s not a “point” guard! You can have that one for free.
