Loyola Marymount Shocks Notre Dame, 87-85

South Bend, IN (Sports Network) - Jarred DuBois connected on a three-point attempt with eight seconds remaining in regulation to give the Loyola- Marymount Lions to a thrilling, 87-85 victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a non-league affair at the Purcell Pavilion.

DuBois finished with 12 points for LMU (4-7), while Vernon Teel led the way with 24 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Drew Viney added 18 points for LMU, while Kevin Young and Ashley Hamilton tallied 12 and 10 points, respectively, in the win.

As for the Irish (9-2), they were paced by Luke Harangody's double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds. Tim Abromaitis tallied 23 points for Notre Dame, while Ben Hansbrough posted 14 points and nine assists. Tyrone Nash chipped in with 13 points and nine rebounds in the losing effort.

Notre Dame went into the break with a 45-44 advantage after shooting 50.0 percent from the field, and connecting on 10-of-12 attempts from the foul line.

The Lions did not quit however, as the team shot 51.5 percent from the field in the second stanza, and kept the game close enough for DuBois’ heroics.

Loyola-Marymount’s bench tallied 21 points in the contest, while Notre Dame’s reserves posted just four points.
