DeMarcus Ware Leaves Cowboys Game on Stretcher

Early in the fourth quarter of the Dallas Cowboys and San Diego Chargers game, DeMarcus Ware stumbled while rushing Philip Rivers and slammed head-first into the hip of a fellow offensive lineman. He fell and rolled awkwardly on the ground, before teammates told him to stay still.

Cowboys doctors and medical personnel attended to Ware while Cowboys Stadium dropped into a eerie silence.

The good news was that as Ware was carted off the field on a stretcher, he waved both arms, seemed to move his feet and flashed a thumbs-up to the crowd. Hopefully the backboard and stretcher were merely a precaution.

More on Ware’s injury as it becomes available, both here and at SB Nation’s Blogging the Boys.
