Week 15 Add/Drop: Is There Really Any Help?

Teams that are fighting for the league championship are probably not scouring the waiver wire at this time of the year. But, there are still those battles of pride at the bottom of leagues, and you never know when an injury will pop up out of nowhere. So with that in mind, we searched for some Week 15 Add/Drop candidates - the Browns and the Redskins are the teams on the offensive upswing with players available.

QB: Brady Quinn - Browns. FF Toolbox.

He torched the Lions for 304 yards and four touchdowns in week 11, then dropped three scores and 271 yards on a stiff Chargers secondary two weeks later. Sure, he was held in check by the Steelers, but his team did get the win. Now, I’m not saying Quinn is the next coming of Joe Montana and I’m not discounting some of the stinkers he’s orchestrated so far this season, but I do think that against the right kind of opponent, Quinn can be a fine fantasy performer. Kansas City (this week) and Oakland (next week) are both the right kind of opponent.

RB: Chris Jennings - Browns. Yahoo! Sports

The undrafted rookie back from Arizona, who was mentioned in this space three weeks ago, should tote the majority of carries for the Chihuahuas down the stretch. Last week against reeling Pittsburgh, the 24-year-old racked a team-high 20 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown. His skill set is rather ordinary. Essentially, he's a straight-line plodder who challenges tacklers head-on instead of eluding them, a miniature Brandon Jacobs if you will. Despite his lack of sizzle, he could net positive results against woeful Kansas City and Oakland over the next two weeks.

RB: Quinton Ganther - Redskins. SB Nation told you about Ganther last week. NFL.com did too, and again today.

I discussed Ganther as a top fantasy pickup in my blog last week, and he made good on the prediction with 21 fantasy points. Sure, it did come against the Oakland Raiders, but Ganther still made a significant impact. The schedule gets tougher with the Giants and Cowboys over the next two weeks, but Ganther should still be owned in most leagues with 12 or more teams.

WR: Josh Cribbs - Browns. CBSSports.com.

Browns coach Eric Mangini said he’s willing to explore using Josh Cribbs, Cleveland’s versatile playmaker, more in a traditional running back role. Cribbs ran for 87 yards out of the Wildcat formation in last Thursday’s win over the Steelers, who came in with the NFL’s top-ranked rushing defense. Cribbs also returns kickoffs and punts, plays gunner on special teams and lines up at wide receiver.

TE: Fred Davis - Redskins. Yahoo! Sports

Very quietly the Redskins have undergone a massive offensive reconstruction. Just five weeks ago the offense couldn't puncture the end zone against a group of three-toed sloths. Now, long, time-consuming scoring drives have become commonplace. Davis is just one of several Washington players who've thrived in the revamped system. Since Week 10, he's compiled 18 catches for 220 yards and four scores. His 9.2 fantasy points per game tally during that stretch ranks No. 4 at his position, one spot behind roster cornerstone Dallas Clark. This week against rival New York, he's likely to score in his fourth consecutive game. On the season, the Giants have allowed the second-most fantasy points to tight ends.

Defense: Houston Texans. NFL.com.

Need a sleeper defense for Week 15? I’d take a chance on the Texans, who scored 19 fantasy points against the Seahawks and next face the St. Louis Rams. Defenses who have faces the Rams’ punchless offense have averaged a solid 20.6 fantasy points per game over the last three weeks, so the Texans should shine.
