Player Who Failed Physical: Michael Taylor

The identity of the mystery player who failed his physical and delayed the three-team super mega blockbuster of a deal from going through is now known: it was Michael Taylor, a Phillies minor league outfielder (the same one who was set to be flipped by Toronto to Oakland).

On the Phillies’ side, outfielder Michael Taylor had elbow issues recently. They called it an “elbow strain” and it apparently sidelined him while he was playing in the Mexican Winter League. [...]

Taylor also suffered an oblique muscle injury in August that wound up ending his season a little early. The season ended in early September, so I don’t want to overstate things. He did wind up playing in Mexico after sitting out the 10 days with his elbow problem.

But it has apparently all been worked out, because the deal is official to the point that Philadelphia schedule a press conference in introduce Roy Halladay Tuesday at 5 p.m.
