UAB Rolls Past No. 25 Cincinnati

December 16 - Birmingham, AL (Sports Network) - Elijah Millsap had 22 points to go with 15 rebounds, as UAB took its eighth consecutive victory with a 64-47 defeat of No. 25 Cincinnati at Bartow Arena.

Howard Crawford had 14 points and George Drake 10 for the Blazers (9-1), who have not lost since November 14 against Kent State. UAB recorded its first win over a ranked opponent since March 2, 2006.

Dion Dixon had 13 points to pace the Bearcats (6-3), who were coming off a double-overtime loss to Xavier on Sunday. Cincinnati had not been held to under 50 points since a 60-45 loss at Memphis last December 29.

Crawford sank a jumper nearly five minutes into the game to put UAB ahead 11-2, and the Blazers continued to play in front. Later in the first half, Millsap scored eight consecutive points to increase the UAB lead to 26-10, and the Blazers held a 34-19 advantage at the break.

A Deonta Vaughn three-pointer nearly five minutes into the second half drew Cincinnati within 37-29, but Drake followed with a layup to restore the double-digit cushion.

The teams traded baskets as the game went to the stretch run, and Lance Stephenson's layup got the Bearcats within 50-39 with six minutes to play. However, the Blazers responded with 14 consecutive points and cruised to the win.

Stephenson had eight points for the Bearcats...The Blazers shot 39.3 percent, while Cincinnati made 31.7 percent of its shots...UAB held a 44-29 rebounding edge.
