Player comparisons are fun. Player comparisons to other players who are very similar are more fun. Player comparisons to other players who are very similar that went to the same college are even more fun.
Comparing John Wall To Rajon Rondo After 10 Games
↵If you’re like me and you love reading this stuff, you really should check out this post by A Sea Of Blue, SB Nation’s Kentucky blog. It compares John Wall’s first 10 games to the first 10 games of another standout Kentucky point guard who is doing great things in the NBA, Rajon Rondo.
↵It’s exclusively a statistical comparison, looking at seven categories: assists, turnovers, steals, rebounds, shot percentage, effective field goal percentage and free-throw rate. The two players are fairly close in most categories, but Wall tends to come out ahead.
↵Which means that Wall is probably better than Rondo, and therefore is the closest thing to college hoops perfection this year. It’s nice to know we can quantify that with numbers too.
