It’s been established that the NBA’s Twitter Policy doesn’t include provisions for “justice” or “common sense.” A few weeks ago, they fined Tyson Chandler and Amare Stoudemire $7,500-a-piece for “tweeting” during games. Even though they weren’t actually using Twitter.
Brandon Jennings, The NBA’s Latest Twitter Casualty ... #NBAidiocy
↵Now the latest case is more complicated. But not really. The Milwaukee Bucks issued a press release earlier:
↵↵The NBA announced today that Bucks rookie guard Brandon Jennings has been fined $7,500 for posting a message on his Twitter account in violation of NBA rules. On Saturday, December 12, a message was posted on Jennings’ Twitter account immediately following the Bucks’ 108-101 double overtime win over Portland at the Bradley Center.
↵Jennings “tweeted” the following message in the locker room immediately after the game: ‘Back to 500. Yess!!! “500” means where doing good. Way to Play Hard Guys.’
↵↵So, in other words, Jennings chose to interact with his fans after a big win. And that is AGAINST THE RULES. Make sense?
↵Of course not. But by circumventing the league-mandated press conferences, and robbing stodgy reporters of their money quote, Jennings cost himself $7,500.
↵Or some Gucci luggage, to be exact:
↵
↵I'm bout to delete my twitter. Twitter cost me 7500. Looks like no Gucci and Louie for Xmas.
↵
↵So, yeah: archaic rules, unfair penalties, but at least Brandon Jennings has his sense of humor in tact. I (still) love this game.
